Trips to Indy

We attended the 2nd Annual Celebrity Softball game in Indianapolis – it was a benefit for the Indiana Children’s Wish Fund and the Tony Stewart Foundation. It was basically the Colts vs. the Pacers. We saw a lot of people for only $5 – lots of Colts – Manning, Freeney, Mathis, Brackett, Saturday, McAfee, Garcon, Addai – and lots of Pacers – Hibbert, Granger, Jones, Foster. We also got to see all the WishTv8 people, Matt Howard from Butler, former MLB player Ryan Thompson, and Miss Indiana. It was a fun time for all.

Two days later we attended the Colts Mini Camp and Open House at Lucas Oil Stadium. After walking around on the field and checking out the view from both the visiting players’ bench and the Colts bench, we got a seat in the fourth row. Not bad. The woman next to us even joined the scrum to get our poster autographed, and we ended up with Freeney, Garcon, Vinatieri, Muir, Chick, and Moala signatures. Not a bad day.

Electric Kitten Choir

The Electric Kitten Choir is a group of stray cats that live in my neighborhood. They put on some good “concerts” every night, with their crying and hissing and wailing at eachother. I decided to make a promotional poster for their frequent performances, with the featured bands being other common annoyances that occur in the neighborhood. The Rusted Tail Pipes are the piece of junk cars that drive by at night with exhaust that will burst your eardrums, the Screaming Children are… well screaming children, and the Garbage Fireballs are the lovely folk that ruin a perfectly good day by burning piles of trash. Hey, no one’s neighborhood is perfect.

I plan on making another concert poster centered around my old college apartment at Purdue. Stay tuned for that one. Also, this is not a real concert, do not show up.

Rethink Clothing

Who says twitter isn’t good for anything? I thought it was pretty good when a brand I was following tweeted that they had one of their shirts on sale for $5. I came across Rethink Clothing a few years ago, and I always liked the Super Soaker tee shirt, so I jumped at the sale. The shirt looks good too – clean, sharp printing, and even though it’s a large print the ink isn’t so thick that it makes the shirt stiff. It was a great find. I also appreciate the bouncy ball that came with my order.

M&M Packaging

I’ve been signing up for free samples of things online, and I always wonder how they will be packaged if and when they are sent. You would think that if someone is giving something away for free and not charging for shipping, it would be sent with bare bones packaging. I was expecting a bag of M&M’s in an envelope, but that wasn’t the case. This is some very nicely designed packaging, and the candy isn’t bad either.

Free Popcorn

Browsing the web for free stuff can really have its benefits when they actually end up sending it to you. Free Gourmet Cheese Popcorn from Orville Redenbacher. Be jealous.
